Ledger® Wallet — Getting Started

Simple steps to set up your Ledger® hardware wallet securely

This guide gives clear, beginner-friendly instructions to unbox and initialize your Ledger® device, create a secure backup, and connect to Ledger Live. Always keep your recovery phrase private and never share it with anyone.

1

Unbox & inspect your Ledger® device

Confirm the packaging is sealed and matches your order. Inspect the device for physical tampering. If anything looks suspicious, contact support from your seller before using it.

2

Power up and choose a PIN

Follow on-screen prompts to select a PIN code. Choose a PIN you will remember but not something trivial. Never enter your PIN on an unknown or untrusted device.

3

Write down your recovery phrase

Ledger® will display a recovery (seed) phrase. Write it down on the supplied card — do not store it digitally. This phrase restores your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.

4

Install Ledger Live and apps

Download the Ledger Live app from the official source and install the required apps (Bitcoin, Ethereum...). Only install apps from trusted sources and keep Ledger Live up to date.

5

Receive and confirm a test transaction

Before moving large amounts, send a small test transaction to verify everything works as expected. Confirm the address on your device display before sending.
